Winner’s Mentality
Hello! How has your 2026 been? Since my last blog post in June, I’ve had many wins and lessons:
Wins:
Booked for content during Tournament Weekend
3 nightlife content bookings
Started my MBA program
Taken on two new projects at my 9-5
Traveled to France for the first time
Lessons:
Discipline in your finances gets easy when you actually look at your accounts daily.
Rest is not laziness & women need more rest than men sometimes.
When making content, always do your best & record with intention.
The best is waiting on the other side of a hard conversation.
Don’t add water to a kettle while it’s hot.
September and October are a great time to slow down and reassess your year. Don’t count the fourth quarter out; it’s a great time for new wins and lessons.
Baltimore nightlife always slows at this time, but it’s necessary with the start of the Ravens football season, upcoming holidays, and homecomings. We are a city that has it all, with HBCUs and diverse PWIs producing homecoming celebrations that alumni, students, and the community are gearing up for.
Some of the best end-of-summer events included Top of the Morning, the reopening of Golden Dragon, Dj Manny’s “Suite 1942” country club party, and Larry Luv’s last Chasing Summer. The in-between has been fulfilled by D-Hov’s event at Maximon, The Ones and Twos Vinyl in the Park, and our people traveling to Rio for the Ravens vs Cowboys game. Some even made the drive to Waldorf, MD for Camp Souled Out Dates festival featuring PartyNextDoor, Yung Miami, and more.
The city has been magical this summer and I am looking forward to the fall. Morgan State University’s homecoming is next weekend, offering an event for every crowd. Halloween party flyers will be dropping soon. The adult skating at Shake ‘n bake has already been announced. Black Rose presented by Dae 103 has been announced and is always a hit—a time for the young, successful, and turnt to dress in their best black and celebrate. I always work the door, and the event is always thoughtfully and beautifully done.
If you find yourself getting the fall scaries or the winter arc monster is closing in on you, turn to grace. Create a plan to foster discipline, but leave space for things (or parties, lol) that you can look forward to.
No, there are no losses. Ever. Fourth quarter is the easiest time to compare yourself to others, so don’t. Convince yourself that you’re a winner, even when you’re not producing things. Look at what you’ve gained from your lowest moments—how could you lose?! Like Jay-Z said, complaining and comparing is a loser’s mentality. Winners just continue to create.
Tips:
Meet or DM someone who inspires you—just tell them thanks and that you see their work!
Go to bed on-time this week, no matter what’s done or not
Follow me on Tiktok, lol period!
Speaking of Jay-Z, highly recommend watching his HBO documentary. If you are into the experiences behind the lyrics and hearing what he thinks of his own art, it’s a must-see.
