New New Year
I hope everyone has enjoyed the holidays. I took advantage of the down time by slowing down, spending time with friends, & SLEEPING. I don’t ever have a new year resolution, but I do always prepare for the new year, some plans over the years more specific and calculated than others.
Last year, I winged it. I had lots of unexpected changes at the top of the year so after first quarter, I decided to have the most fun and treat myself endlessly for the rest of the year. If you know me, this is very unlike me. I am always working and have had steady discipline since I was in elementary school. If you looked through my texts, bank account, and photos from 2025 you would see that I LOST MY MOTHERF* MIND.
However, I really did have the time of my life! I made some of my first biggest purchases ever, met so many great people, tried new things (new nightlife spots too!) and had the most fun dating. I started liking the gym and it made me feel extremely sexy. A 27-year old’s dream.
I also started therapy and QUICKLY learned why I was winging 2025, amongst other things. Probably the coolest thing I’ve ever experienced.
Now, that that’s over, this year I will be way more for real. For the first time, the new year feels like a continuation of last year. Letting my hair down gave me a whole year to plan and think and dream about what I actually want, bringing balance to my typically practical way of living.
I’ve structured my “goals” into categories, to cover the areas of my life I’d like to prioritize. If you want help doing this for yourself, email me. It’ll be free :). Here are categories with an example:
Things I’d like to do try (ie: go to an improv show)
Career (ie: complete YouTube content schedule)
Finances (ie: complete a savings challenge)
Fitness (ie: maintain 5-day gym split)
Personal (ie: intentionally spend time with my parents)
Good, achievable, measurable goals can only be created and committed to when you are honest with yourself. You must believe in yourself and have confidence which, for some, may be a challenge. I’m here to tell you that you can do it. Start small and break big tasks into small tasks. Do one thing a week and celebrate it monthly.
My last bit for today—soundtrack your days as you plan, start, and complete your goals. Find songs that put words to what you are feeling and may be unable to find the words for. This has helped me be present and feel that I am not alone in working to achieve my goals.
Hope these tips help. Don’t forget, I am at your disposal. Happy 2026!
